Do It Yourself Air Plant Wedding Decor

Weddings are a time to celebrate love amongst family and friends. It is important to put details into your wedding decor, but it's more important to ensure your wedding guests have a good time. Creating wedding decor yourself can cut cost and takes the minimal amount of your time!

Table Numbers

  1. Set your air plant in, on or attached to your table number holder . Do not glue or squeeze the stems of the air plant, this will damage it. 
  2. Write out or print your table numbers. 
  3. Add memorabilia, a candle or additional decor if needed.

Centrepieces

Air plant terrariums are loads of fun! Since there are no functionality requirements of air plants you can do pretty much whatever you want when it comes to building the terrarium. The only thing you will absolutely need to keep in mind is quick access to remove your air plant. Easy in and out of your terrarium is important as you will still need to bath your water plant on a monthly basis. This piece cost a total of $40. Air plant terrariums are beautiful for wedding gifts, wedding decor, home decor and as table centrepieces, not to mention super easy to make! 

  1. You can showcase the bottom of your glassware or use rocks to create your base layer. This is up to you!
  2. Add decorative materials such as faux diamonds and pearls, rocks, moss, bark and sentimental memorabilia. 
  3. Add your air plant. Air plants should not be glued or tightly squeeze into place, this can damage their leaves. If transporting your air plant terrarium note that it will move around, re-arrange once they are place.

Table Decor 

The concept behind what defines a terrarium, is the layering of materials. With succulents and cacti, this is required. Their roots grow out of these nutrients. Air plants don't need anything but air and water. You will need to water your air plants on a monthly basis, bathing your air plants. Ensure your air plant is completely dry before adding it back to your terrarium. This will avoid water marks and molding in your terrarium. 

  1. Add a base layer. You can showcase the bottom of your glassware or use rocks and sand to build create your base layer. This is totally up to you!
  2. Add decorative pieces. Incorporate fun materials such as faux diamonds and pearls, funky rocks, moss, bark or sentimental memorabilia. 
  3. Add your air plants, placing them into your terrarium. You will need to be gentle with them. Air plants should not be glued or tightly squeeze into place, this can damage their leaves. If transporting your air plant terrarium note they will move around, re-arrange once they are placed in their new home. Be sure to keep them in a bright space.
